From the abstract of a 2001 study:

"In research with 942 nonclinical adult participants, gay men and lesbian women reported a significantly higher rate of childhood molestation than did heterosexual men and women. Forty-six percent of the homosexual men in contrast to 7% of the heterosexual men reported homosexual molestation. Twenty-two percent of lesbian women in contrast to 1% of heterosexual women reported homosexual molestation. This research is apparently the first survey that has reported substantial homosexual molestation of girls."

Even the American Psychological Association acknowledges that environmental factors can lead to a homosexual orientation. So, if abuse is one of those factors, how can lawmakers prohibit counseling to help persons restore a healthy sexual orientation and/or to help them align their sexual identity with their deeply held values and beliefs?

The APA changed its designation of homosexuality from aberrant to alternative in the 70s as a result of political pressure. I was taking Psychopathology at the University of Michigan at the time and the clinical psychologist teaching the course was very clear about this. He did an entire lecture on homosexuality and many non-enrolled students showed up. His lecture was VERY WELL received by all in attendance. Molestation was not the prominent feature he discussed, although he did address the "too early" awakening of sexual arousal by same or opposite gender. With lesbian women, he implicated primarily the lack of childhood attention by the father... the response being promiscuity (as if saying, "I don't need you, Dad" or becoming lesbian (as if saying, "I don't need men.)

His discussion of gay men was broader, involving the various roles and hierarchies, which I never considered really... even saying that often the man moved from the passive to dominant role and eventually even may become hetero... almost as a right of passage. He described various appearances - various levels of effeminate (drag queen in the extreme), GQ-like, and a tougher, leather/motorcycle style. People asked questions and there were numerous "lightbulb over the head" moments as they seemed to be looking into their pasts and recognizing the parental relationships he described that often led to a rejection of natural sexuality. .

I truly believe that millions of people have bought into some kind of religious experience by accepting Christ, but they have never actually been saved

Truth! Many read the Bible, attend church, but has he saved them! Knowing Him and Him knowing you is a big difference! In my own power I couldn’t have changed the way that I have, if you haven’t ever been lost! How can you be found? God bless🙏

Joh_6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Too much theology, and no experiential knowledge and intimacy with the Holy Spirit, not frequently mentioned, even the demons believe, and they tremble.
